Sheriff’s Office Annual Employee Recognition & Awards Banquet Saturday Night, December 6th

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Announces:

Saturday evening, December 6th, the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office held it’s 6th Annual Employee Recognition & Awards Banquet at Georgia Northwestern Technical School Convention Center in Calhoun. The annual event is sponsored and hosted by the Sheriff’s Auxiliary, and is held each December to recognize Sheriff’s staff members who have distinguished themselves throughout the year. This year’s guest list included the District Attorney, members of the Board of Commissioners, and the County Administrator. Following dinner, Sheriff Ralston presented the following honors and decorations:

Mertitorious Service Awards: Sergeant Edward Key, Deputy Jamey Kirby, and Deputy Corey Tate. John D. Blair Memorial Freedom AwardsCaptain Shane Parrott, Lieutenant Jack Jenkins, Sergeant Kevin Ricket, and Deputies Jamey Kirby, Scott Shaw, Sean Henery, and Alex Sutherland. (These awards were for acts of bravery.) Distinguished Service Awards: Detective Ginger Daffron and Deputy Carl Martin. Commendation Medals: Sergeant J.C. Davis, Deputies Russ Jones, K.D. Pulliam, and Matthew Flippen. Commendation Medal (Air): Captain (Pilot) Ron Dobbs. Drug Enforcement Awards: Sergeant Edward Key, Deputies Jamey Kirby, Dale Pullen, and Corey Tate. Deputy Sheriff of the Year (Enforcement): Carl Martin. Deputy Sheriff of the Year (Judicial): Wesley Hall. Detective of the Year: Michael Hill. Jailor of the Year: Sergeant Walter Crump. Civilian Employee of the Year: Charlotte Harford. Sheriff’s ‘Extra Mile’ Award: Deputy Phil Stowe. Certificates of Commendation: Sergeant Eric Guthrie, Deputies Scott Shaw, Anthony Bramblett, Kevin Turner, Adam Cook, and Jailor Scott Blackstock. Auxiliary Member of the Year: Dixie Johnson. The Sheriff and his command staff officers also recognized all the members of the Auxiliary with a special issue Civilian Distinguished Service medal for their service to the Sheriff’s Office staff and charitable works in the community.

In addition to honoring staff and Auxiliary, the Sheriff also recognized several citizens for their actions during Winter Storm PAX in February: Shane McDougle, Tommy Hall, Donnie Ralston, and Johnny Martin. Eric Rigney received a civilian service award for his work with the Auxiliary’s annual youth football clinics, and Reverend Joe Hall was honored for his years of managing the Jail Ministry Program.

Sheriff Ralston said in his closing remarks that Gordon County is a wonderful place to live and work, that the Sheriff’s Office not only represents the county, but is a part of the community, and that the people of Gordon County are served by a Sheriff’s Office staff who are truly devoted to their duties and dedicated to keeping our community safe.
