More Arrests Made in Connection With Recent Burglaries

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

On Tuesday, October 27th, deputy sheriffs and detectives responded to reports of 3 residential burglaries in the Dews Pond / Red Bud area. Acting quickly and following leads throughout the day, Gordon County deputies arrested two individuals in Catoosa County that same afternoon. A search of the suspect vehicle, a maroon Toyota Sienna mini-van, resulted in the recovery of items believed to have been stolen in local burglaries. These 2 individuals, Daniel Dewayne Laster, age 38, of 3660 Chattanooga Road, Tunnel Hill, Georgia and his wife Lacresha Ciree Laster, age 24 of the same address, were immediately jailed. Gordon County detectives had also developed information leading them to believe that other individuals were involved, and continued following up on several leads the next day.

On Wednesday afternoon, October 28th, armed with arrest warrants, Gordon County deputies and detectives traveled to Dogwood Road in Catoosa County and there arrested Gregory Andrew Lance, age 30, of 1217 Dogwood Road, Tunnel Hill, and Cody Dewayne McClure. age 21, of the same address without incident. They were lodged in the county jail. Inside the residence where they were arrested, detectives located property believed to have been stolen in a number of Gordon County burglaries over the past 3 months.

Daniel Dewayne Laster and Lachesha Ciree Laster have both been charged with seven (7) counts of 1st Degree (residential) Burglary.

Gregory Andrew Lance and Cody Dewayne McClure have both been charged with one (1) count of 1st Degree (residential) Burglary.

At the time of his arrest, Daniel Dewayne Laster was on probation for previous burglary convictions, according to Georgia DOC records. Gregory Andrew Lance was on probation for burglary as well, according to DOC records, and Cody Dewayne McClure was free on bond from a previous burglary arrest in Gordon County in April of this year.

All four (4) of these individuals are subjects of investigations involving residential burglaries in three neighboring jurisdictions, and additional charges are expected to be filed.

Sheriff Ralston extended thanks to Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood and his staff, Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk and his staff,  Dalton Police Chief  Jason Parker and his staff, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision in Calhoun and Dalton, and the Region 1 Office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Calhoun.

Sheriff Ralston said, “My deputies and detectives worked quickly and efficiently to collect evidence, develop leads, and follow up on these leads. Due to a lot of good investigative work on the part of all the agencies and individual officers involved, the case resulted in the arrests of four offenders and the recovery of property stolen from innocent victims. Burglars are especially offensive, in that they not only take other people’s property, they violate people’s privacy in a way that is reprehensible.  These four defendants will now face juries of Gordon County residents to answer for their actions in our court.”
