ATV Crash Results in Child Fatality
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
At about 4:30pm, Saturday evening (January 23rd), deputy sheriffs and other emergency personnel were dispatched to a rural location on North Tate Bend Road near Calhoun in unincorporated Gordon County in response to a report of a crash involving an ‘All Terrain Vehicle” (ATV). Upon arrival, deputies found an overturned ATV and the injured occupants, all local residents. A 10 year old boy, badly injured, was removed from the scene to Gordon Hospital. The adult occupants suffered injuries as well. The boy was transported by helicopter to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tragically, the child succumbed to his injuries.
