Deputies Arrest Six People in Three Unrelated Burglaries

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

On Thursday afternoon, March 20, deputy sheriffs responded to a report of a burglary-in-progress at a private residence on Guyton Road near Sugar Valley. The deputies arrived to find two men, subsequently identified as Clemmie Sexton, age 63, of 306 Covey Rise Drive, and Steven Tracy Jackson, age 41, of 310 Covey Rise Drive, in an automobile in the driveway. After determining the men had entered an outbuilding on the property and removed articles from therein, both individuals were taken into custody without incident. All of the property was returned to the rightful owner. Both men were charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Trespass, and Theft.

On Friday evening, March 21, deputy sheriffs responded to the report of a burglary at a private residence on Erica Lane near Dews Pond in unincorporated Gordon County. The perpetrators had entered the residence and took appliances and household items. Witnesses subsequently provided sheriff’s detectives with descriptions which led to the arrests of  four persons: Marsha Tate, age 44, of 270 Erica Lane, Charles James Hamann, age 25, of 245 Erica Lane, Chelsea Virginia Fish, age 25, of 245 Erica Lane, and XXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX, age 00, of XXX XXXXX XXXX (ARREST RECORD EXPUNGED). All four were arrested the same day without incident and charged with Burglary in the First Degree. All of the property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

At about 10:15pm Saturday night, March 22, deputy sheriffs and a state trooper from the local State Patrol post responded to the report of a commercial-burglary-in-progress at a business on West Belmont Street in an unincorporated area in Calhoun. The officers observed that a back window had been smashed and summoned additional deputies to the scene. Upon searching the building, deputies found that wires had been cut underneath the building, as well as near alarm keypads. When the deputies searched the interior of the building, they found a flashlight, a screwdriver, and  Nam Ho, age 44, of 118 Summerfield Lane, wearing gloves, dark clothing, and hiding inside a cabinet in an office. He was arrested there without incident and subsequently charged by detectives with Burglary in the Second Degree.

Sheriff Ralston said, “A combination of fast reaction from the deputies on patrol, good cooperation from witnesses, and persistent detective work led to theses cases being solved quickly and the return of the stolen property. These defendants will now face juries of Gordon County citizens in our local court system.”
