Deputies Arrest Kentucky Couple For Marijuana and Firearms Offenses
A deputy sheriff on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle travelling northbound on Interstate 75 near Calhoun in southern Gordon County this afternoon, and stopped the automobile for a traffic violation. A subsequent search of this vehicle using one of the Sheriff’s K9 (canine) Units revealed several pounds of processed marijuana packaged for resale and a loaded handgun. The marijuana packages were hidden inside the vehicle’s trunk. Both the driver and passenger, Paula Thi Phan, age 19, and Thien Hung Nguyen, age 23, both of Louisville, Kentucky, were arrested without incident at the scene and transported to the county jail. They have been charged with Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute and related firearms offenses.
