Deputies Capture Fugitive After Automobile Pursuit in Newtown

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

At about 3:30 yesterday afternoon, July 9, an off-duty deputy sheriff saw a man whom he recognized as being a fugitive driving on Red Bud Road. The off-duty deputy followed the fugitive’s car and notified other deputy sheriffs via 911 who converged on the Newtown area. After a short automobile pursuit by patrol cars on Newtown Road near Iracil Lane, the driver abandoned his automobile and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended. The driver, identified as Albert Franklin Lofty Jr, a/k/a “Bo Lofty”, age 35, of 211 Faye Lane, Calhoun, was being sought by the Sheriff’s Office for Failure to Appear (in Superior Court) to face charges of Theft. Lofty will face additional traffic related charges in connection with fleeing from the officers. He is being held in the county jail without bond.
