Deputies Make Arrest and Recover Stolen Trailer 18 Minutes After Theft is Reported
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
At about 10:20 am Wednesday morning, March 26th, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on Cash Road in the Sonoraville community in response to the report of the theft of a trailer. A witness provided a description of a truck seen leaving the home pulling the stolen trailer which was broadcast to other deputies. Eighteen minutes later, deputies on patrol on US Highway 41 in Calhoun observed the truck pulling the stolen trailer. The deputies stopped the truck and arrested the two occupants, subsequently identified as Rickey Allen Metcalf, age 32, of 3 Curry Street, Rome, Georgia, and James Gregory Aultman, age 29, of 41 Akron, Cartersville, Georgia without incident. The trailer was returned to the rightful owner. Metcalf and Aultman were both charged with (felony) Theft by Taking and lodged in the county jail pending bond proceedings.
