UPDATE, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…

Friday, February, 6th, 2015

On Saturday evening, January 31st, a deputy sheriff on routine patrol near Corley Manor subdivision stopped a pair of suspicious male persons walking in the roadway. After questioning these individuals and determining that they were juveniles who lived a short distance away, the deputy sent them home. The following day the Sheriff’s Office received reports of 2 automobiles having been damaged, including a Sheriff’s patrol car at the home of an off-duty deputy, and a third car having been unlawfully entered. Detectives assigned to these cases subsequently detained and questioned the 2 juveniles that had been identified as having been in the area the night before. After collecting both statements and physical evidence left at the scene, detectives charged the 2 juveniles with multiple counts of Entering Automobiles to Commit Thefts, Criminal Trespass, and Interfering With Government Property (regarding the piercing and deflation of a tire of the Sheriff’s patrol car), as well as a number of similar incidents in the same area on January 21st. The juveniles, ages 16 and 13, were released to the custody of their parents and will appear in Juvenile Court to answer the charges at a date to be determined by the Court.
