Sheriff, Fire/Rescue Searching Floodwaters For Missing Person Near Reeves Station
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
The sheriff and a number of deputies, along with Gordon County Fire/Rescue personnel, have responded to the report of a missing person near Reeves Station in western Gordon County where floodwaters have covered portions of Reeves Station Road. Fire/Rescue personnel are in the water in boats, as the Sheriff’s Air Unit is performing an aerial search. The initial report involved a vehicle in the flooded area. Sheriff Ralston said that the swiftly flowing floodwaters could easily sweep an ordinary automobile from the roadway in such extraordinarily dangerous conditions. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is sending additional manpower/boats to aid in the search.
More details will be forthcoming as soon as they become available.
