Joint Murray County – Gordon County Investigation Nets $100,000.00 Worth of Methamphetamine, 2 Defendants

Last week, Murray County Sheriff’s detectives and Gordon County Sheriff’s detectives initiated an investigation into large scale methamphetamine trafficking by individuals at a private residence on Hufstetler Road within sight of the Murray County line. Following leads and devoting many hours to both electronic and physical surveillance, detectives from both Sheriff’s Offices developed information leading to the execution of a search warrant today (Monday, August 15). This morning, detectives and deputy sheriffs from both Murray and Gordon Counties executed the (search) warrant at a private residence at 250 Hufstetler Road. As the officers arrived, the principle defendant, Michael Leon Patton, age 43, of said address, fled on foot away from the officers near a chicken coop. The deputies found a substantial amount of methamphetamine on the ground along with a set of keys and a set of scales from where the suspect ran away. A large amount of methamphetamine, with a ‘street value’ in excess of $100,00.00 was recovered along with other material evidence pursuant to this warrant. Deputies arrested Shannon Michelle McConathy, age 46, and Emily Ann Young, age 25, both also of 250 Hufstetler Road without incident. Both are lodged in the Gordon County Jail, charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, pending bond. Investigating detectives from both counties believe that Patton, who remains at large, is responsible for a major meth trafficking operation. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Michael Leon Patton is urged to call the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, or 911. Sheriff Ralston praised all of the officers involved in the investigation and arrest, and thanked Murray County Sheriff Gary Langford and his staff as well.
