Oakman Man Arrested For Impersonating an Officer, False Imprisonment

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

On January 24th, 2016, a Ranger woman filed a complaint with the Sheriff’s Office that Saturday morning, January 23rd, she was at the home of an acquaintance in the Ranger community when she was approached by Justin Levi Silvers, age 19, of 202 Haynes Road, Oakman, who was dressed in what is believed to be a Georgia Department of Corrections (GDOC) uniform. There, Silvers is alleged to have attempted to arrest the complainant, placing her in handcuffs before a third party intervened. Silvers then allegedly represented himself to a witness as a state trooper.

Detectives subsequently initiated an investigation which has resulted in Silvers being charged with ‘False Imprisonment’ and ‘Impersonating a Public Officer’. Detectives confirmed that Silvers was a GDOC employee at the time of the incident. Silvers turned himself in to Sheriff’s detectives on Friday morning, January 29th, and was released on $8500.00 bond.
