Pursuit Ends With Three Arrested For Methamphetamine Trafficking

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Tuesday morning, April 28th, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence in the Plantation Place subdivision in the Dews Pond community in response to a domestic disturbance involving an automobile driving recklessly. The responding deputies quickly located the vehicle in question, a silver Ford ‘Focus’, which then accelerated and attempted to flee away at a high rate of speed. The deputies pursued the car for some distance with blue lights and siren before it came to a stop in a driveway of a private residence on Deer Run Trail. The three occupants rapidly abandoned their automobile and tried to run away from the deputies across lawns and streets. The deputies continued the pursuit on foot, and with the help of other deputies who’d responded to radio calls for assistance, captured all three suspects a short distance away. A search of the suspects and their automobile revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine and resale packaging items. The automobile was removed from the scene at the residence, as the homeowner there was not involved. The three suspects were identified as: 1. Hector Mendez (driver), age 19, of 140 Frix Lane, Calhoun, Georgia, charged with Driving With Suspended License, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement Officers, Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine 2. Cody Rankin, (passenger) age 17, of 140 Frix Lane, Calhoun, Georgia, charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine, and 3. Fabian Capistran, (passenger) age 17, of 506 Baxter Road, Calhoun, Georgia, charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine. All three defendants are housed in the county jail pending bond.
