Sheriff’s Detectives, GBI Investigating Shooting Death of 16 Year Old
Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
At approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning (Friday, August 29th), deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on Fite Bend Road in Resaca in response to the report of a shooting incident. Deputies arrived within 6 minutes and found the victim, a 16 year old male, who’d suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was removed by emergency medical personnel to a local hospital where he subsequently expired. Sheriff’s detectives and and Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents were sent to the scene and an investigation was initiated. Detectives and GBI agents executed a search warrant and collected physical evidence as well as interviewing a number of witnesses. The victim’s body has been sent to the state crime laboratory in Decatur, Georgia to undergo a post-mortem examination. The investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office, GBI, and Coroner’s Office.
