Tennessee Couple Arrested For Heroin Trafficking

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Monday afternoon, August 3rd, a deputy sheriff on patrol stopped a suspicious Tennessee automobile for a traffic violation on Interstate 75 near Calhoun. A search of the interior of the automobile revealed over a pound of ‘hydro’-grown (high grade) marijuana and a large amount of heroin. The occupants, Rashaad Jamal Bell, age 26, of 3203 East 43rd Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Markeisha Bradford, age 26, of 414 Tunnel Boulevard, Chattanooga, Tennessee, were both arrested at the scene without incident. They have both been charged with Trafficking in Heroin (a Schedule I Controlled Substance), and Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute, and are being held in the county jail pending bond proceedings. Sheriff Ralston said, “The reemergence of the drug heroin is very concerning to the criminal justice community, given it’s lethal history and potential for misuse. This particular arrest involved the seizure of twice the amount of heroin required to meet the threshold weight set forth in the Georgia trafficking statute. These two defendants can now go before a jury of Gordon County citizens to answer for their actions here.”
