Three Week Investigation Results in Seizure of Over 700 Marijuana Plants and Arrest of Ranger Man

Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:

Three weeks ago, the Sheriff’s Office received information that marijuana was being cultivated at a farm near Ranger in unincorporated eastern Gordon County. Acting on this information, deputy sheriffs and detectives initiated an investigation involving ground surveillance, as well as the acquisition of other evidence. This morning, May 20th, deputies and detectives executed a search warrant at 733 US Highway 411. Deputy sheriffs discovered over seven hundred  (700) marijuana plants growing in multiple locations about the residence. Detectives found marijuana and methamphetamine inside the home, as well as marijuana drying on racks in an attic. Detectives arrested the occupant Randy Jeffrey Thacker, age 56, of 733 US Highway 411, Ranger, Georgia, who is charged with Manufacturing Marijuana, and Possession of Methamphetamine. He is being held in the county jail pending bond proceedings.
